Former Governor of Bayelsa State and serving Senator, Henry Seriake Dickson, paid a visit to the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, in a show of solidarity amid ongoing political tension in the state.
The visit comes just hours after hundreds of Rivers women staged a peaceful protest demanding the restoration of democratic governance in the state and calling for the return of Governor Fubara.
The protest, in a video posted by Times of Nigeria reports., saw women marching from Isaac Boro Park to Garrison Junction in Port Harcourt, decrying the recent declaration of a state of emergency by President Bola Tinubu.
The women, under the platform “Rivers Women Unite Prayer Group”, described the emergency rule as a political move aimed at suppressing the will of the people.
They women insisted that only the elected governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, can truly represent the interests of Rivers State.
