How Flying Snakes Can Glide Through The Air (Photos)

Chrysopelea paradisi -- the paradise tree snake -- does just that, propelling through the air from trees in South and Southeast Asia.

Little was known about how such snakes "fly" before a team of scientists from Virginia Tech published a new research paper Monday.

Experts say the snakes glide through the air, so study lead author Isaac Yeaton told CNN the team set out to understand how they do so.

The snakes make an undulating motion as they move through the air, and researchers had been curious as to why they did it.

The team had a basic understanding of undulation, thanks to the work of study author Jake Socha, who has been studying the snakes for around 20 years, said Yeaton.

All snakes undulate when they move across the ground, but flying snakes also do it in the air.

You don't strictly need to undulate to fall, so that leads to the question 'well then why are they undulating,'" said Yeaton.

One hypothesis was that it was a base motor pattern for snakes built in over millions of years, but Yeaton said they now understand the undulation stabilizes the glide and stops the snake from tumbling, as well as allowing them to cover more horizontal distance.

The researchers carried out indoor experiments with live snakes at Virginia Tech and also developed a computational model. "It's a big step forward," said Yeaton.

The next stage for researchers is to observe snakes jumping from trees -- or gliding -- outdoors, Yeaton said, as well as investigating how they generate lift and how they turn in the air.

He told CNN snakes are "question-generating organisms" and there are plenty more mysteries to be solved.

"As soon as you watch it you're like 'how does it do that?'" said Yeaton, who added that this might be why so many people are afraid of the reptiles.

"We have a visceral response to snakes," he said. "Then the idea that this animal can then fly is very unsettling to people."

The full research was published in the journal Nature Physics.

Doctors Embark On Strike In Kogi Over Governor Yahaya Bello’s Management Of COVID-19, Threat To Lives

Following an attack by suspected political thugs on Wednesday, doctors at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, Kogi State, have embarked on an indefinite strike.

Rising from a meeting on Wednesday, the doctors said that the action was necessitated by the prevailing insecurity foisted on the centre by armed thugs and the poor management of COVID-19 pandemic by the Governor Yahaya Bello-led administration.

In a communique announcing the strike and signed by seven health workers’ associations, they expressed regret that aside the violent attack on workers, all vital equipment needed for their day-to-day work had been carted away by the hoodlums.

The union leaders said they were totally withdrawing services across the board pending when their grievances are met.

They also demanded adequate provision of personal protective equipment for their members as a precondition for calling off the strike.

Part of their demands also include the validation of COVID-19 status of the Accident and Emergency Unit staff, who were on self-isolation, expansion of triangle points and provision of testing facilities (PCR machine).

How To Inculcate Effective Leadership Skills In Your Child

$
0
0
While growing up, leaders are greatly influenced by the sayings and actions of their families. Undoubtedly, everything we say and do impacts our children; they copy our behaviors because we are their role models when it comes to human relationships and interactions. For Example, you have a wife who seldom uses the Hijab when going out but you expect your daughter to inculcate the habit of using the proper Hijab. Or a father that tells lies on phone but keep hammering the son to be truthful.

We provide guidance to our children by showing them how to live in this world, despite the challenges that come their way, and how to shoulder their responsibilities in a more moderate and less stressful way. We also edify them on the ways of interacting with others and teach them how to practice positive thinking, justice, cooperation, time management, and how to carry out the tasks of daily life, such as personal matters and school assignments. We also help them master human interaction and effectively navigate life.

We can easily see how children may grow up to not become leaders or productive people as a result of our failure to fulfill the abovementioned duties. Sadly, some parents admonish their children through arguments and transmit negative energy to them on a daily basis! Some parents harbor hatred, plant it in their children’s hearts, and uproot the values of justice and equality from them. Other parents do not have time for their children or make them feel their emotional or physical absence due to their own personal problems. There is no doubt that such children will suffer from many problems, unless they find another leader or a more positive role model to look up to for guidance. This is a possible or, rather, quite common scenario. So, the question arises as to how you can raise your child to become a leader.

Here are ten simple steps to achieve this goal:

1- Lead by example: remember that you are not always the perfect role model for your child given that you are human. Rather, you should admit your mistakes and never lose sight of your responsibility.

2- Take full responsibility for all your worldly affairs and make your child witness that. Work hard, set goals for yourself, then pursue them, and encourage your child to identify his own goals in life and then help him achieve them.

3- Support the activities your child likes and show him how proud you are of him for knowing how to do things, and ask him to teach you things that he knows and you do not.

4- Encourage your child to express his opinion. Ask him about his opinion on any new event or topic, and let him express his point of view even if you do not agree with him.

5- Assign a project or task to your child, as this gives him a feeling of satisfaction with what he accomplishes. For example, he can learn how to cook soup for lunch, clean a section of the house, or arrange the furniture of a room as he wishes, and do not forget to laud his efforts in performing the task.

6- Let your child make decisions about what to have for lunch, what he wishes to do in the weekend, and where he wants to spend the vacation.

7- Show him how you take full responsibility with regard to your circumstances. When you feel bored, you find an activity to make use of your time, and when you are short of money, you address this problem, meaning that you do not allow the circumstances to overwhelm you or leave you helpless.

8- Teach your child how to think optimistically, and also teach him how to address negative thinking by immediately introducing positive thoughts into his mind. This is a helpful skill that he should learn and will always need.

9- Demonstrate to him how to be patient, assertive, and courageous in your own life.

10- Encourage your child to exercise the freedom to be himself and express his individuality and to allow others to do the same as long as it does not cause harm to anyone.

Remember that you need to teach your child what you want him to be by being a living example for him and guiding him by your sayings and actions.

Therefore, you should be constantly conscious of your own behavior. As long as you wish to raise your child to become a leader, you should be a leader in your child's world or in the broader world in general. Although we may sometimes say or do something wrong or do meaningless things, when we are keen to remain mindful of our words and actions that leave the greatest impact on our children, we will give them a chance to succeed in this tough world.

She Is Married, Has Gold, Silver, Money But Has No Child & Wants To Write Her Will

$

"I am a married woman, living with my husband only, and I do not have any children. Praise be to Allah in all circumstances. My parents are both deceased, and I have brothers and sisters who are married. My grandfathers and grandmothers are also deceased. I have uncles and aunts on both my father’s and mother’s sides. I own some gold and silver, and personal belongings such as clothing and books, including the Book of Allah, and my bank account where I receive my monthly pension. I want to write my will, but in a situation such as mine, I do not know how, or who my heirs are. Can I make my husband (may Allah preserve him) the executor of my will? [??]; in other words, can I write it in his name, and can he open it and read it? Because I want to write some other things in addition to the estate, such as things that I cannot tell him right now, like asking him to think well of me if he discovers or hears something after I die, because he complains about my being very quiet, not talking much, and being mysterious. This is because sometimes I hide from him things that I think it is better to hide in order to avoid troubles or problems with other family members, and Allah knows best about my intention. I hope that I have explained my questions well, and that I will have a clear answer from you."

Praise be to Allah.

Wills are of two types:

An obligatory (waajib) will, which is a will which explains what you owe to people who have no proof of what you owe them, such as debts and items entrusted to you for safekeeping. In this case, having a will is obligatory in order for you to discharge your obligations.

A recommended (mustahabb) will, which has to do with giving donations, such as a person’s bequest of one third or less of his wealth to be given after he dies to someone who is not an heir, whether he is a relative or otherwise; or instructions to do some good deeds, such as giving charity to the poor and needy, or other worthy causes. See: Fataawa al-Lajnah ad-Daa’imah (16/264).

A person may leave instructions to his family concerning some matters having to do with his funeral, such as stating who should wash him, who should offer the funeral prayer for him, and so on. He may also leave instructions to them to avoid wailing and other things that are forbidden.

This is indicated by the report narrated by Muslim (121), according to which ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, as he was dying: “If I die, do not let any wailing woman or fire accompany me.”

By the same token, a woman may leave instructions asking her husband to think well of her, and apologizing for some of her actions towards him, and asking him to forgive her. There is no specific wording or format for a will concerning this or similar matters. Rather each person may leave instructions as appropriate to his situation and that of his family, stating any debt or obligation that was owed to him or that he owed to others. He may entrust the written will to whomever he wishes, to open it after he dies.

It is not permissible for you to bequeath anything of your estate to your husband, because he has the prescribed right of inheritance to your estate if you die before him. Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, has ordained that the husband’s share of his wife’s estate if she dies is half of her estate, if she did not have any children.

Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, has allocated to each person who is entitled to a share his rightful share, so no bequest can be made to an heir.

As your parents are both deceased, the rest of the estate, after your husband’s share, must be divided among your siblings, with each male getting twice the share of a female.

No person knows when he will die; how many healthy people have died for no reason, and how many sick people have lived a long time.

What you must do is treat your husband well and live kindly with him, and avoid going to extremes in concealing things and being mysterious, lest that affect the relationship between you and your husband, and undermine the partnership and friendly relations between you, which could to each of you getting used to being withdrawn from the other.

Just as disclosing everything to the husband may lead to conflict and arguments, going to extremes in being mysterious and not talking to one another enough is something that may undermine the relationship between you, as mentioned above, and may even lead to doubt and suspicion.

Adopting a middle path in such matters is something good and praiseworthy.

Our advice to you is not to delay this apology and seeking forgiveness until after you die.

Rather you should do it now, and treat your husband well, and do your utmost to please him, for that is an important means of gaining admittance to Paradise, if Allah wills.

And Allah knows best.

"Why Buhari Didn’t Deal With Fayose, Wike" - Adesina

$

0
Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has said his principal chose to ignore the “combative, truculent, if not at times insulting” disposition of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

The spokesperson said the President would have dealt with Wike and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, for their “anti-Buhari tendency” but he chose to tolerate the duo as a father of the nation.

Wike, who belonged to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, had recently appreciated the President for approving the refund of N78.9bn to Rivers for the repair of federal roads. A total sum of N148bn had been approved by the Federal Executive Council to five states including Rivers, Cross River, Bayelsa, Ondo, and Osun.

In a piece published on Friday on his website and entitled, ‘Wike Vindicates Buharists’, Adesina described the recent action of Governor Wike as “completely different direction compared to what he had always said of President Muhammadu Buhari”.

He wrote, “The Wike we knew was either usually crying wolf where there was none, alleging that the Federal Government wanted to kill him, or claiming that he was not answerable to the central government at Abuja in any way, or even pontificating that the President and his political party, the All Progressives Congress, had failed the country in diverse ways.

“If not for the maturity, and the avuncular attitude of President Buhari to all state governors, it would have been easy for one to conclude that he and Wike were enemies. Forsworn ones.

“There was also the then Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, who had formed a tag team with Wike in the anti-Buhari tendency. The President could have dealt with them in many ways, either overtly or covertly, but he let them be. He was a father ready to tolerate his many children, irrespective of their differing idiosyncrasies, propensities and predilections.”

On the invitation extended by the Rivers governor for the President to visit the state to see what the money was used for, the President’s spokesperson said, “In January 2018, there had been vicious killings in some parts of the country. States affected were; Benue, Taraba, Plateau, Yobe, Rivers and Zamfara. The President decided to embark on sympathy and solidarity visits to the states. All the Governors were receptive, except Wike, who said the visit was a smokescreen, meant to revive the dying APC in Rivers State.

“When about 20 people were killed on New Year Day 2018, in Omoku area of the state, and the President wanted to visit, Wike demurred. He said there were killings everyday all over the country, and it meant the President must visit every State on a daily basis.

“The circle has turned fully round, and Governor Wike is inviting the President to visit. He says he’s “a President for every State of the Federation and all Nigerians.” Wonderful!

“Some people say it is N78.9 billion that is working, and the Governor is clearly inebriated by that windfall. But I don’t think so. Rivers is by no means a poor state. The amount is handsome, no doubt, but the state is oil rich, and can hold her own when it comes to finances. I rather choose to believe that Governor Wike had been playing a curious kind of politics all along, and now, fairness and justice have touched him in a positive way.”

'We Have No Differences To Sort Out In APC' - Tinubu

The APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Thursday night declared that there was no differences to be sorted out in the party.

Tinubu, also said, “there is no crisis in the party, hence, no fight to reconcile.”

He made the declaration shortly after a closed door meeting with Gov. Mai Mala Buni, Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee and other members at his Bourdillon Residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Buni, also Governor of Yobe, led other members of the APC National Caretaker Committee to the Lagos meeting with Tinubu.

”We have no differences to be sorted out in the APC; we just had consultation and it is how our party, the APC, would continue to be a progressive party,” he said.

According to him, the committee is a consultation and not reconciliation committee since nobody is fighting anybody.

There are instances when you disagree, but it doesn’t mean that you cannot discuss it over and be a good example in leadership and politics,” Tinubu said.

The former Lagos State governor also said that politics without seeming media crisis would be less interesting.

”But the question is, are we committed to building this party and Nigeria? That is what we are all about.

”We are steering the ship of our nation and our party in the right direction,” Tinubu said.

He said that the party leadership had trust and respect for the chairman of the caretaker committee and would support him to succeed for the party to continue in its progressive governance of the country.

The committee chairman, who led other members to the meeting, said that the meeting was part of the consultation the committee was making.

”You know the task before us is daunting, and we need guidance, experience and prayers from our leaders,” Buni said.

The host Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, expressed his pleasure to have his colleagues in the state.

”It’s been a very fruitful discussion we have had here this evening,” Sanwo-Olu said.

Other members of the committee in attendance included the Chairman of Progressive Governor’s Forum, Gov. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu; Secretary of Caretaker Committee, APC, Sen. James Akpan Udo-Edehe and Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Bello.

Reps Move To Rescue Buratai’s Critic, Lance Corporal Martins, In Military Detention

The House of Representatives has begun the process to rescue a soldier, Lance Corporal Martins Idakpein, who was detained for criticising the service chiefs over the rising spate of insecurity in Nigeria.

At the plenary on Thursday, the Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu, moved a motion to call for Idakpein’s rescue, Punch reports.

Elumelu said, “The House is disturbed that though Section 122 of the Armed Forces Act forbids the military from perpetually detaining any officer, Lance Corporal Martins ldakpein, has been held in detention till date and his wife who tried to secure his release has also been detained.

“This is an affront to the letters of Chapter 4 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, which guarantees the fundamental human rights of citizens.”

The House mandated the Committees on Defence and Army to “investigate the alleged detention of Lance Corporal Martin’s ldakpein and his wife.”

Also, the House asked that “ldakpein should be brought before the relevant House committees and the leadership, to brief them of the happening in the northern part of the country.”

AMCON Takes Over Oil Magnate, Festus Fadeyi's Pan Ocean Assets Over N240b Debt

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zHY0E7vI6U

The Asset Management Company of Nigeria, AMCON, on Thursday, July 2, took possession of Pan Ocean Oil Corporation Nigeria Limited, and its affiliate companies owned by billionaire oil mogul, Festus Fadeyi, over an unpaid N240 billion loan debt.

Justice Mohammed Liman of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos had on June 22, granted an ex-parte application by counsel to AMCON, Kunle Ogunba SAN, to take interim possession of the assets of Pan Ocean over the unpaid loan. The court also granted the application by AMCON to take over several oil mining and oil prospecting licenses exemplified by OML 147, 152 and 98 respectively owned by the company. Properties in Victoria Island, Lagos among several others were also included for possession.

“An order of this honourable court granting interim judicial protection to AMCON, the receiver/manager (and its duly appointed nominee; Mr. Kunle Ogunba SAN) appointed herein over the assets/businesses of the defendants by virtue of its deed of appointment dated March 5, 2020, in furtherance of the mutually binding covenants of the parties in the various facility/offer letters pending the determination of this suit is granted.” Justice Liman had ruled

However, Pan Ocean through its counsel, Oluwemimo Ogunde (SAN), had filed an application before the court asking it to stay the execution of the takeover order pending the determination of a suit marked, FHC/L/CS/552/2020, which is also a subject of an appeal before the Court of Appeal in Lagos. Ogunde described AMCON’s ex parte application leading to the takeover order as an abuse of court process, which he said the court rules frown upon.

A statement from AMCON announcing the takeover of the company's assets reads

“Hon. Justice A.M. Liman of the Federal High Court, presiding over the suit between the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) vs Everest Nominees Limited and Dr. Bolaji Ogundare a subsidiary of Pan Ocean Group has ordered AMCON and its assignee to take over all the assets of the companies.

Pan Ocean Group is promoted by Dr. Festus Fadeyi, a flamboyant Lagos oil and Gas businessman whose total indebtedness to AMCON is over N240 billion.

“The court had also granted an order appointing AMCON as a Receiver Manager (in accordance with its 2019 Act as amended) and its designated human nominees (Mr. Kunle Ogunba Esq. SAN) its privies and assigns over the assets of Pan Ocean, their corporate guarantors, cronies and cohorts to take over a number of prime assets of Pan Ocean over some irreconcilable huge debt owed AMCON by both Everest Nominees Limited, Pan Ocean Group and their promoters as well as directors.

The court in suit No. FHC/L/CS/722/20 ordered AMCON and its assigned designate to take over several oil mining and oil prospecting licenses that are exemplified by OML 147 (formerly OPL 275), OML 152 and OML 98 respectively. The order also mandated AMCON to took over the property lying and situate at No. 33b, Adebayo Doherty Street, off Admiralty Way Lekki Phase One in Lagos State as well as the property lying and being specifically known as FF Towers, Plot 13/14 Ligali Ayorinde Avenue, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Others include another property lying and specifically known as No. 8, Modupe Alakija Crescent, Ikoyi, Lagos; the property lying and specifically known as No. 10/12, Modupe Alakija Crescent, Ikoyi, Lagos christened and identified as Grand Villa; No. 14, Modupe Alakija Crescent, Ikoyi, Lagos; another property lying and known as Ark Towers situate at No. 17, Ligalli Ayorinde Avenue, Victoria Island, Lagos as well as Plot 5 and Plot 822, Samuel Manuwa Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Aside these prime assets of the obligors, Justice Liman also ordered AMCON to take over any other assets, businesses, affairs, undertakings, interests etc belonging to the defendants wherever same may be found. He also directed the Inspector-General of Police and his commissioners to assist AMCON and its designates as well as the Court Bailiffs in taking over the assets on behalf of the Corporation.”

Meanwhile, the management of Pan Ocean Oil group has expressed dismay at what it described as an attempted illegal takeover of its properties by AMCON. In a statement released, the firm said on July 2nd, 2020, a team led by Kunle Ogunba, disrupted work activities at two of its facilities under the guise of executing a court order. The firm noted that the action was taken despite a pending lawsuit marked FHC/L/CS/552/2020 which is before the Court of Appeal in Lagos. The statement in part reads

“Our lawyer, Mr. Oluwemimo Ogunde (SAN) had notified Justice Mohammed Liman of a Federal High Court in Lagos, about the pending suit and prayed His Lordship to stay execution of a court order around Pan Ocean’s assets. The attempted takeover of our assets by AMCON and its lawyer is therefore condemnable.

Pan Ocean accessed funding from the banking system to facilitate expansion plans which were based on sound investment advice and projections. The funds were invested in assets which are verifiable and within Nigeria. We remain committed to working with our financial partners to resolve all outstanding issues.”

We are committed to the rule of law and due process and will continue to rely on legal due process to resolve this issues despite the provocation and lawlessness of the party. We call on the leadership of the judiciary and all lovers of democracy and the rule of law to call the erring parties to order.”

Just like all social vices, fraud is addictive and the more you get into it, the more you are captivated to get more until you are caught then you realize how messed up you have ended.
Nobody holy pass because you never can tell how your actions have pushed someone into crime.
When I broke the news of hushpuppi’s arrest to my goons that have every genuine reason in the world to continue in the lavish lifestyle of fraud, to my greatest surprise, none of these folks supported their own or felt any remorse for their nefarious activities, they rather began to cast aspersions on their senior colleague (a one time mentor) who their gist about his achievements forced me to follow him on IG since 2017 in search for contents for my blog. By the way, he was always in the news and once wrote an epic letter to the youths (some parts are referenced before this post).

“Kamani, Hushpuppi too do... I go done stop yahoo if I get even one quarter of wetin Hushpuppi don make from yahoo.” one of them replied.

When I asked how much you don chop so far from street, dude suddenly went mute. Why? Because he was unable to account for the several thousands of dollars he had received, both shared with others and personal. It’s the same scenario of unaccounted accumulation that played out with Hushpuppi because the lavish lifestyle made him to lose count of the several millions he has received and shared. I am pretty sure he’d be shocked when the charges of his exploits are read to him.

THE SYSTEM

There’s never a one man squad in fraud or if there ever is, it will be the petty one called 419 and sooner than later, there must be a recruitment to advance the scam. Often times, there’s a subtle competition among scammers on who don blow pass and puppi’s greatest rival seems to be Mompha.
Hushpuppi today happens to be the bad egg and even the hens that lay and nurture them are also clucking in condemnation but I still maintain that nobody holy pass.

No matter how you try to feign holiness, fraud has so eaten deep into our system that the many business tycoons and politicians that we look up to in town may not necessarily press computers at odd hours to bomb or hack but are the greatest beneficiaries at the forefront to receive greater proceeds in percentage by providing accounts for receiving this stolen funds mostly through money laundering and influence. A few CSOs and NGOs are not left out.

Hushpuppi is not the evil, he is a reflection of the society we live in and because Interpol/FBI understand that for every dancing bird on a footpath, there’s definitely a drummer in the bush, they are doing everything naturally possible to blacklist even the few legit ones among us because they can’t fathom how long it will take us to compromise standard and adopt fraudulent practices. The principles you preach on social media have a watering price tag that even if you wish to decline the offer, someone will pass behind your back to do it on your behalf through impersonation to soil your reputation.
Kindly channel your energy to the system and not the product.

My humble opinion.

NUPENG Gives FG 2-Week Ultimatum Over Bad Roads

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers has given the Federal Government a two-week ultimatum to rehabilitate the bad roads across the country.

NUPENG also asked the government to immediately address the issue of multiple roadblocks and extortions from all security agents or the union might be forced to embark “on a serious industrial action to drive home our case.”

The National President, Prince Williams Akporeha, at the end of the union’s virtual National Executive Council meeting on Thursday, said, “We wish to urgently draw the attention of the Federal Government to the harrowing experiences of the owners of petroleum trucks in the country.

“The only means of moving petroleum products across the country is by roads, using the trucks. We can confidently tell you that this means of distribution is presently endangered and require urgent Federal Government stimulus intervention fund to prevent it from total collapse.”

According to him, most of the nation’s highways are becoming death traps for the union’s members, most especially Calabar-Itu-Uyo, Port-Harcourt-Aba, Mokwa-Jebba-Kaduna, Port-Harcourt-Owerri, Warri-Benin-Auchi-Okene-Lokoja stretch of the country.

He said, “We are shocked at the lackadaisical attitude of local, states and federal governments to the issues of addressing the degenerating state of Nigeria roads before the coming of the current raining season despite all our warnings for them to make necessary construction, repairs and maintenance of all our roads, which are now in a parlous state and becoming practically impassable.

“The issue of bad roads is further compounded by the various security agencies who now set up multiple checkpoints on these deplorable roads to further exploit and extort money from motorists. Petroleum tanker drivers are the worst hit by the exploitative tendencies of these unscrupulous security agencies.

“The brazen extortion of our members, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic was really disconcerting and unfortunate.”

The union said it could no longer continue to fold its hands and watch its members, who toil day and night, to keep suffering on the bad roads and in the hands of security agents.

The highly-rated forward, who had spent four seasons at the Etihad Stadium, has signed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga champions.

Leroy Sane has completed a move to Bayern Munich from Manchester City for an initial €49m (£44.7m/$55m), with that amount potentially rising to €60 million (£55m/$67m) through add-ons.

The 24-year-old winger, who had spent four seasons at the Etihad Stadium, has signed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga champions.

A switch to the Allianz Arena for Sane had been in the pipeline for some time, with Bayern first making their interest known during the summer of 2019.

An untimely injury scuppered those plans, with a serious knee problem picked up in a Community Shield clash with Liverpool.

Sane has, however, worked his way back to full fitness and will now be returning to his homeland to open the next chapter in his career.

He has told Bayern’s official website: “FC Bayern is a great club with big goals - and these goals suit me as well. I'm looking forward to the new challenge and can't wait to train with the team.

“I know Hansi Flick from the Under-21 national team, we had a very good relationship there. I want to win as many trophies as possible with FC Bayern, and the Champions League is the top priority.”

Bayern’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said on acquiring the services of a top target: “We’re very happy to welcome Leroy Sane to FC Bayern.

“He is an outstanding player who has proven his qualities over the past few years, especially in the national team.

"Our goal is to gather the best German players at FC Bayern and the signing of Leroy emphasises this goal. I would like to congratulate Hasan Salihamidzic on successfully concluding the transfer.”

Salihamidzic added: “We’re delighted Leroy is to be a Bayern player. Leroy is a difference-maker and will strengthen our team with his quality.
“With Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman and Leroy, we’re now even better equipped at a very high level in the wide positions that are important for our game.

“I would like to thank Manchester City for the trusting and constructive negotiations. I would also like to thank our president and chairman of the supervisory board, Herbert Hainer, who supported us with this transfer right from the start under the difficult circumstances of coronavirus.”

Sane took in 135 appearances for City on the back of a 2016 transfer from Schalke, with 39 goals and 45 assists recorded across 135 appearances.

He helped the Blues to two Premier League titles, an FA Cup triumph and two League Cup successes.

On parting with an exciting talent, former Bayern boss Pep Guardiola told City’s official website: “We wish Leroy all the best in this new chapter of his career.

“Leroy has been part of one of the most special periods in this club’s history and he leaves with the best wishes of everyone here at Manchester City.”

Director of football Txiki Begiristain added: “From arriving as a fledgling young talent four years ago, we are proud of the contribution Leroy has made since joining Manchester City.

He leaves with many friends and fond memories of his time at the Etihad.”

Man Battles For His Life After Assault By Abia COVID-19 Taskforce Officer

A middle-aged man whose name could not be disclosed is currently battling for his dear life following several punches and serial assault by enforcement officers attached to Umuahia North Covid-19 protocol enforcement team.

Trouble started when the victim, a commercial tricycle operator who approached a checkpoint opposite the General Post office in the capital city and was stopped by the taskforce officers.

It was discovered that one of his passengers was not wearing the mandatory face mask.

She was said to have hurriedly searched for it from his bag before the team attacked the Keke rider for carrying a passenger allegedly violating COVID-19 safety protocol.

The officers directed the Keke operator to take the vehicle to the local council headquarters and as he was still asking the taskforce member to take it easy, he received a deadly blow on his face, with three other punches coming simultaneously before the victim lost his balance and slumped lifelessly on the road.

The scenario attracted passersby who gathered to see the end of the Thursday afternoon drama while the attacker fumed in his rage over what he saw as belittling by the tricycle operator.

But when it became obvious that the Keke Operator may not be coming back so soon, the crowd became violent and insisted that the task force staff single-handedly convey his victim to hospital.

In the melee that ensued, the irate mob started manhandling the taskforce staff who after taking the heat for a while, made well his escape after taking to his heels and running into the council headquarters.
