Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has met with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in London.

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has met with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in London.

ThisNigeria reports that the meeting held  on Thursday with some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors present.

They include Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Adamu Fintiri of Adamawa State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.

The meeting is said to be part of efforts by Atiku to woo Wike ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

ThisNigeria reported earlier that former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi also met with Rivers governor on Thursday.

Osinbajo, Ameachi, Lawan, Other APC Presidential Aspirants To Meet Over Tinubu

As part of efforts to rally support for the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general election, all the presidential aspirants of the ruling party are slated to meet in Abuja, next week.

The meeting is coming barely three months after some of them went head-to-head at the primary for the presidential ticket of APC that eventually produced Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as party’s flagbearer.

This development is coming less than six months to the Presidential election slated for February 28.

Among those expected to be in attendance are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; former Science and Technology Minister, Ogbonnaya Onu; former Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba and former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio.

There would also be five serving governors, namely Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Ben Ayade (Cross River) and Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti).

A statement signed Thursday in Abuja by the media office of the APC youngest presidential aspirant, Dr. Nicolas Felix, also listed Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; former Ogun state governor and serving senator, Ibikunle Amosun; a serving senator, Ajayi Boroffice; former Zamfara governor, Ahmad Sani; former Imo State governor and serving senator, Rochas Okorocha; a former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole; fiery cleric, Tunde Bakare; Pastor and Businessman, Dr. Nicolas Felix; former Information Minister, Ikeobasi Mokelu; Businessman, Tein Jack-Rich and the only female among them, Uju Ken-Ohanenye.

The statement partly read: “The special invitation to the strategic meeting of all 2023 APC Presidential Aspirants, which will be held at Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, on Wednesday, August 31st, 2022 by 2pm is to brainstorm on adopting winning campaign strategies that will carry every Nigerian along and address the challenges bedeviling our country.”

The Aspirants ’ last outing together was the APC presidential primary which held at Eagle Square from June 7 to 10.

Olympique Marseille president, Pablo Longoria, has debunked speculation that they are trying to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United.

According to him, the rumours are wide of the mark and “fake news”.

Longoria said: “It’s the social media world full of fake news.

“We want reality. Ronaldo deal is not for us.

“It’d be like saying that De Bruyne or Haaland are OM targets… let’s focus on our real project”.

Ronaldo is desperate to play Champions League football this summer, but has not been able to find a new club.

The 37-year-old is now in a race against time, with the transfer window closing in one week.

World's longest cucumber record broken by Polish grower

Amateur gardener Sebastian Suski is the proud new owner of the world's longest cucumber - a specimen of Cucumis sativus that until this week was growing in a polytunnel at his allotment.

Despite the blisteringly hot summer in the UK, Sebastian - who was born in Poland but now lives in Southampton - was able to tend to his impressive patch of cucumbers and produce a whopper measuring 113.4 cm (3 ft 8.6 in), beating the previous record by 6.4 cm (2.5 in).

Sebastian has been growing big fruit and veg with the help of his wife Renata for seven years.

He volunteers for the European Giant Vegetable Growers Association (EGVGA) - a support group for fans of garden giants - and now is an international officer for the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth (GPC).

He has even set a few national records in his time as a grower, but that elusive world record had been denied to him... until now!

"I'd grown big cucumbers but never quite long enough to beat the existing Guinness World Records title holder," said Sebastian.

"Growing super-long cucumbers is a risky business," he continues. "If you cut too soon, you're not going to have a record-breaker, but if you leave it too long, you get into the danger zone. You risk your cucumber rotting as it grows - you don't want it exploding on you!"

Sebastian cut his king-sized cucumber at just the right time, and although it's starting to turn yellow, it's still intact, and will be for about 10 to 12 days more.

He almost lost out on the chance to be a record holder, however, when he was hospitalized at a crucial point in his cucumber's growth.

"Doctor found a leaking blood vessel in in my head and so I spent a week in hospital. But luckily my wife Renata was on hand to care for the cucumber and keep her well-watered and nourished. Without Renata, I wouldn't have this record."

And yes, Sebastian refers to his cucumber as a "she"! "They're one of the family, really, like babies that need a lot of love and attention."

He and Renata have four children, and the whole family seems to welcome these vegetal siblings into their lives.

Sebastian is a passionate gardener in his spare time, when he's not packing and shipping contact lenses for a living. Intriguingly, he's also curious about the pedigree of his seeds, and traced the history of the seed that bore his record-breaking cucumber.

"I've tracked the seed back 15 years to record-breaking specimens from the UK to Germany to Poland and back to the UK again," he explains, before name-dropping some of the most celebrated growers in the giant-vegetable community.

"These seeds have come to me from Piotr Holewa - the top grower in Poland, whose cucumbers can reach up to 99 cm long - via David Thomas, Peter Glazebrook and the original source, the famous Alf Cobb."

These last three gardeners have at some point held records for their grows. Cobb is a former holder of the longest cucumber record, and also the heaviest cucumber, which is currently held by Thomas.

Glazebrook, meanwhile, has also held both records in the past and was recently celebrated for growing the heaviest eggplant/aubergine.

A New Jersey art teacher is receiving heat from parents at the preschool where she teaches.

Her voluptuous curves and figure-hugging dresses is the bone of contention.

Parents said her curves are a distraction for their children.

The teacher is quite popular on Instagram where she regularly shares photos of herself in class or engaging in other fun activities outside school.

Some parents are calling for her to be fired while others say she should just wear clothes that hide her curves.

Under both New Jersey and federal labor law, it would be illegal for a school to fire a teacher based on their physical appearance, which is perhaps why there’s been no action taken against the supposed complaints that have been made in regards to the woman’s looks.

How Often Should Couples Have Sex?

For the newly married, sex is almost unpredictable, as the frequent, spontaneous sex that happens in honeymoon and during the subsequent weeks after marriage is said to be the new couple’s ways of getting to know each other and adjusting to their new status.

For older couples, however, the situation may be a lot different, as the family may have grown, and both partners have settled down to the realities of life, which can sometimes push sex to the back burner if couples don’t make conscious efforts to rev up things occasionally.

While experts agree that daily sex is virtually impossible for most busy people, they also warn that more sex isn’t necessarily a proof that all is well with a relationship.

Sex experts say that typically, most couples will only find the time to have sex once a week; while some research suggests that happier couples have sex three to four times a week. But the question remains: how often should couples have sex?

Except in situations where couples are trying to achieve pregnancy, a 2016 study by some American scholars suggest that couples who had sex four or more times a week weren’t any happier than those who did it weekly.

They are of the view that not having sex daily allows you to find a time when both of you are feeling relaxed enough to become aroused.

The bottom line: The only question you really need to answer is this: Are you both happy with the amount of sex you’re having? If the answer is yes, you’re doing just fine.
