Gov Soludo making history

Since the creation of Anambra State from the old Anambra which had Enugu as its capital, Awka has struggled to attain the status of a befitting capital city. At creation, in August 1991, Awka was virtually left with nothing as most of the public institutions – i.e. university, airport, prisons, etc. – had to remain in Enugu, the capital of the old Anambra State and now the capital of Enugu State.

The journey to build Awka has not been easy. Past leaders in the state right from the first military administrator, Commodore Joseph Abulu, and the first civilian governor, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, all did their best. But it is not easy to build a capital city from the scratch.

Take the new Government House and Lodge Complex for example, which is currently being built by Governor Soludo in the Ekwueme Square axis of Awka. The site of this New Government House and Lodge Complex was almost washed away by gully erosion and had been almost taken over by hoodlums and land grabbers. Today, Governor Soludo is building a befitting Government House and Lodge for Anambra. This new complex would be the greenest and most environmentally friendly government house in Nigeria. (Currently, the existing Government House is on a makeshift site that was used during the construction of the Enugu -Onitsha Expressway in the 70s and the current Government Lodge is in another town –miles away – from the current Government House, Gov Soludo is making history.

‘You Should Be In Jail’ - Nigerians Knock PDP Senator Who Confessed Buying Votes

You Should Be In Jail’, Nigerians Knock PDP Senator Who Confessed Buying Votes

Reactions have trailed the confession of Olalere Oyewumi, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator, who said he bought votes during the 2023 General Election.

Vote buying was one of the major challenges that confronted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the election.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had even deployed its officials in some polling units.

In a viral video, Oyewunmi, who is the Deputy Minority Senate Leader, narrated how he sent his aide on an errand on the eve of the election with his personal money for vote buying but was rejected by strong supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in Yoruba, the Minority Leader, who represents Osun West District, said “I tried all the tricks I knew to win at the Onilu House (Ile Onilu) polling unit but these people didn’t allow me.

After exhausting money for the election, I gave my personal money to Ten-Ten to give to people at night to buy votes on the eve of the election, Ten-Ten came back with my money, saying the people rejected it. I was surprised.
“That was why I reached out to these people because I cannot be a Senator and continue to fail there. I was the one who called Ayandosu from Abuja to join me in the PDP. I told him he has talent and that the party he was serving then (APC) would not allow him to grow.”

Reacting to the development, the leadership of APC through its chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, said the confession had shown that Osun election was not free and fair.

In a statement, Lawal said: “The confessional statement of Senator Oyewumi was a confirmation of the fact that the last series of the elections in the state which secured victory for all the PDP candidates including Governor Ademola Adeleke, were brazenly rigged.

The self-confession of Senator Oyewumi was an indication that he is a desperate politician who could go to any length to illegally corner opportunities regardless of what such portends to the right-thinking members of the society.

“In a civilized clime, Senator Oyewumi has no iota of reason to remain a minute longer in the Senate where he has been the Minority Leader based on his self-confession that he engaged in vote-buying during the election that secured a fraudulent victory for him.

"By now, Senator Oyewumi should be a guest of the statutory law enforcement agency constitutionally saddled with the responsibility of investigating such political crime involving a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

I Wanted Peace Of Mind - Policeman Who Rejected ₦150M Bribe (Photo)

A Superintendent of Police, Ibrahim Sini, has said he turned down a N150m bribe allegedly offered to him by a Lagos-based businessman, Akintoye Akindele to have peace of mind.

Akindele, who was arraigned for the offence at the Federal High Court in Abuja in August 2023, was remanded in the Kuje correctional centre.

According to the charge sheet, the bribe was offered to allow police to permit him to escape abroad and to write a favourable report for him after the investigation.

Sini was said to have led the Inspector General of Police’s team of investigators handling the case against the businessman.

Speaking at a dinner organised to honour him on Friday in Abuja, Sini said, “I am very happy to be here, and I want to appreciate the organisers of this programme. They have beat my imagination, and they have added more grease to my elbow. Yes, I remember when the incident happened. The person in question asked me, ‘Do you want to be rich?’ He said, ‘This is an opportunity for you to be rich

So what I said was that it depends on the kind of riches. I would like to have money so that I can lay my head down and sleep at night. I don’t want to have something that will make me think twice and be running from one hole to another. So I would like to do justice and have peace of mind.

So, I decided to do the right thing so that I can have peace of mind and also stand to do what is right for myself, for my organisation, that is, the Nigeria Police and also for the country at large.”

He advised youths in the country not to trade their integrity for anything.

Sini added, “To the youth out there, I just want to tell them that integrity counts, that it’s good to be up and doing, that it’s possible to be in the midst of a lot of challenges and still stand to be different. Nigeria is our country, and Nigeria shall be great.”

At the event, Sini was given a plot of land in Abuja.

Presenting the document of the land to Sini, the Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, said SP Sini’s conduct has brought pride to the Nigerian Police Force.

“We are proud of you, I want to let you know that your conduct has brought pride to the Nigeria Police Force. We urge other members of the force to emulate SP Sini,” Igweh said while presenting Sini with the documents of the land.

Also, the organisers of the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Vegas Homes, Chukwuemeka Okoye, said Sini’s conduct remains exemplary and should inspire others and Nigerians to note that the Nigerian Police Force has men of integrity and good conduct.

He said, “SP Sini’s actions have not only brought honour to himself and the Nigeria Police Force but have also inspired countless others to stand firm against corruption and uphold the highest ethical standards. His integrity serves as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that even in challenging circumstances, it is possible to remain true to one’s values.

“This honour is aimed at not only appreciating the laudable conduct of Superintendent Ibrahim Sini but to demonstrating that society appreciates individuals of integrity and good conduct.

“We want to also show that the Nigerian Police Force have officers that are professional, above board and with the right incentive to engage in meaningful policing and be worthy examples”.

SA City Bans Sex Expo Street Posters For Being ‘Too Spicy’ (Photos)

The City of Cape Town has once again banned certain pieces of artwork from the Sex Expo’s outdoor advertising campaign – deeming them too risqué.

The Cape Town expo is set to take place from 27 – 30 June. As a result of several complaints brought to the City, the ‘Sexpo‘ has had to face the decision that some of their street poster artwork is “just a bit too spicy for the City of Cape Town”.

As a result, only a ‘tasteful’ selection of the provocative posters are being displayed on the city’s street poles.

Despite this setback, the Sex Expo says it is unfazed. The annual event is designed for over-18 consenting adults looking to explore sexuality in a non-judgmental space.

“Known for its emphasis on sexual health, wellness, and education, the Expo remains committed to creating a fun, inclusive, and immersive environment,” their statement read.

Last year, the Expo faced similar complaints regarding its outdoor advertising campaign.

In 2023 it was South Africa’s first Idols winner – Heinz Winckler – who was offended by posters of a “semi-nude” buttocks and raised a complaint.

He and local City councillors demanded the removal of the posters just days before the event. They also put pressure the street pole advertiser to comply.

This in spite of the campaign having been approved by the City of Cape Town, complete with official City stickers.

UK Female Prison Officer Caught On Camera Having Sex With Inmate (Photos)

Written by Nafisat Abdulrahman

A viral explicit video has caused a scandal at HMP Wandsworth with the footage showing a former prison officer, Linda De Sousa Abreu, engaging in sexual activity with an inmate inside his cell.

The incident has prompted a police investigation and raised significant concerns about security and staff conduct within the prison system.

The footage, reportedly filmed recently, shows Abreu, 31, in uniform, performing sexual acts with an unidentified prisoner while being recorded by his cellmate.

The incident took place at the Category A prison in South-west London where security lapses have previously been highlighted.

Abreu, who recently resigned from her position amidst the unfolding scandal, is also known for her appearance on Channel 4’s documentary “Open House: The Great Sex Experiment,” where she and her husband explored unconventional aspects of relationships.

In a statement, Abreu’s sister, Andreina, expressed concern over her sibling’s lifestyle choices, mentioning her involvement in swinging and an explicit OnlyFans account.

She revealed her discomfort with being associated with this aspect of her sister’s life, which clashed with her own values and public persona as a fitness advocate and religious individual.

Andreina said, “She’s a Player. She was on a Channel four programme called Open House. I never saw it. It’s not the sort of thing I’d watch with my little sister in.'”

The scandal has reignited debates about the integrity of prison staff and the challenges faced within the UK’s prison system.

A former head of security at another prison, Vanessa Frake, condemned the incident as a “disgrace to the uniform and a breach of trust.”

Responding to the incident, a spokesperson from the Prison Service emphasised a zero-tolerance policy towards staff corruption and confirmed that Abreu has been reported to the police.

The Metropolitan Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

Andreina said, “I’ve had my say with her, I was very brutally honest with her about her behaviours. I spoke to her previously about her lifestyle.'”

This incident adds to a series of controversies surrounding HMP Wandsworth, which has faced criticism for overcrowding, drug use among inmates, and security vulnerabilities.

The prison’s management and the Ministry of Justice are under pressure to address these systemic issues to ensure the safety and integrity of the prison environment.

'How Nature Humbled My Stance On Redpill'

Was relaxing on my verandah sometime last week and i witnessed something that had me thinking up till this moment.

For over 2 days a particular pigeon had been visiting my compound and i dismissed it in my subconscious as nothing peculiar. This particular morning though, the pigeon swooped in again, hopped here and there and in one crazy frenzy picked up a piece of discarded rubber material and took off. My eyes followed it and surprisingly it's destination wasn't far, it flew to a piece of erected metal beam opposite my house, curiosity got the better of me and i stood up and observed.
Behold, it had been picking up twigs and sorts for it's partner. The partner was building a nest, and when it arrived she collected the piece of rubber material from the male, tried fitting it in the nest and threw it away when it didn't fit. The male flew took off immediately to get another twig. I somehow forgot about the incident not until this morning i can see both lovebirds cuddled up in a complete nest.

Bam! It hit. Epiphany or whatever you call it. Men are naturally built to be providers and women are home makers.

Don't know what's wrong with this generation and the hype about being woke with women shi. Sounds like a homosexual propaganda to me.
I love women, smart ones, beautiful ones, every one...

It's my duty to provide for the woman i love with what i have at my disposal and it's her responsibility to support me. Together we shall make our abode a Haven. Simple...

Any other thing? Na una sabi.
I'm not weak, neither am i lazy.
I only go women that have interest in me.
I don't simp.

But say i no go provide, that one na lie.

El-Rufai, Kwankwaso Meeting Spurs Fresh Speculations About Moves Against Tinubu

$

The meeting between former Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai and the leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Thursday sparked fresh speculations that some northern political bigwigs are plotting a coalition to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, Daily Trust on Sunday reports.

While it wasn’t unusual to see El-Rufai and Kwankwaso together, preceding events, which had seen many northern political heavyweights turn the Daura home of former President Muhammadu Buhari into a sort of Mecca, have raised eyebrows among political observers.

It would be recalled that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, accompanied by former governors of Sokoto and Adamawa states, Senator Aminu Tambuwal and Jibrilla Bindow, paid a visit to Buhari, which was tagged a Sallah homage. Twenty-four hours after Atiku’s visit, El-Rufai also visited the former president, while a former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff, visited a few hours later.

Reacting to this, Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly, criticised it as an attempt to revive Buhari’s political influence and mobilise support for the 2027 presidential election, cautioning against stirring Arewa sentiment without regard for the potential chaos it could cause.

Analysts believe that with both El-Rufai and Kwankwaso currently having grievances with the President Tinubu-led government, their meeting may be part of a strategic scheme to rally around a formidable candidate to unseat the president in 2027.

While President Tinubu has reportedly made overtures to woo Kwankwaso to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the former Kano governor’s political enmity with his successor and current national chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, is said to be among the obstacles.

It’s believed that Kwankwaso still harbours some misgivings towards President Tinubu over what those close to him called a betrayal of trust. After the 2023 presidential election, it was widely reported that Tinubu had offered Kwankwaso a ministerial position, but this did not materialise when the list was announced.

His recent ordeal with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), involving an alleged N2.5 billion pension fraud and campaign finances, has further complicated their relationship.

The situation is similar with El-Rufai, who many believe was dealt a more embarrassing blow after he was nominated by the president for a cabinet position, but a last-minute security report led to his non-clearance by the National Assembly. His loyalists believe the president might have orchestrated the “embarrassment” to diminish the former Kaduna governor’s political clout.

EL-Rufai’s recent ordeal with his anointed successor, Governor Uba Sani, which has seen the state Assembly indict him in an alleged N432 billion misappropriation of state funds during his tenure from 2015 to 2023, adds to his troubles.

Before his meeting with Kwankwaso on Thursday, El-Rufai had been in the news over 2027 speculations recently. His meeting with some political leaders across different parties in March had fuelled speculations about his future political plans. He had earlier met with the national chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Shehu Musa Gabam, and had another meeting at the Abuja residence of Senator Abubakar Gada, a chieftain of the SDP, and other party leaders.

Also present were Senator Teslim Folarin, the APC gubernatorial candidate for Oyo State in the 2023 general elections, and Senator Nazif Suleiman, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Bauchi State, as well as Alhaji Aminu DanAgundi, a political heavyweight and kingmaker in Kano State. The meeting at Senator Gada’s home came a few days after El-Rufai hosted a gathering at his Abuja residence, which included the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam (a chieftain of the APC), Shehu Musa Gabam, and others, for a Ramadan iftar (the breaking of fast).

Some analysts believe that with President Tinubu’s desire to consolidate power before 2027, some aggrieved politicians may be using these meetings to stir the hornet’s nest, while others suggest the president may be wary of taking them lightly, considering how similar meetings led to the formation of the APC in 2014, ending the PDP’s 16-year uninterrupted rule.

Those in the latter category believe that the moves by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to lead a charge for a coalition ahead of the 2027 polls may serve as a launch pad for a major political upset.

Kwankwaso’s meeting with El-Rufai, a rescue mission, says political ally

Meanwhile, Hashimu Dungurawa, the chairman of the NNPP in Kano State and a close ally of Kwankwaso, the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, said the recent meeting between El-Rufai and Kwankwaso was a brotherly reunion of two progressive politicians.

Commenting on a possible political alliance between the two, Dungurawa said it was too early to tell but admitted that the two are progressive politicians on a rescue mission.

He said, “Their target is to rescue the Northwest, rescue the northern part, and, by extension, rescue Nigeria.”

He noted that it was evident from their performances in various offices that both leaders have the people at heart and have many things in common, including integrity and the experience to lead the country to El Dorado.

The visit to El-Rufai, he said, is a testimony that northern political leaders are together and will collaborate to rescue Nigeria.

Commenting on the probe of Kwankwaso over the NNPP’s campaign funds by the EFCC, Dungurawa said those who brought the matter to the anti-graft agency have been expelled from the NNPP.

He said they were being used by political opponents to distract Kwankwaso, who is determined to sanitise the system to make it work for the people.

The chairman said no amount of blackmail will frustrate Kwankwaso, whose rising political profile is causing fear among his opponents.

Efforts to get a comment from the media aide to El-Rufai, Muyiwa Adekeye, on the agenda of the meeting between his principal and Kwankwaso were not successful. Also, Kwankwaso’s media aide, Saifullahi Hassan, was also unavailable.

'Loot Recovered Under Buhari Returned To Owners' - Says Obono-Obla (Photo)

$

A former Chairman of the Special Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property, Okoi Obono-Obla, has alleged that the loot recovered by his panel under former President Muhammadu Buhari were returned to the looters.

He added that the Buhari administration failed to fight corruption, supposedly the bedrock of people’s trust in him.

Obono-Obla, who was appointed a presidential aide by Buhari, made the allegation on Saturday while speaking on the Mic On Podcast.

SPIP was an independent investigative panel set up by Buhari to recover stolen property and assets belonging to the country.

According to Obono-Obla, his efforts to bring many looters to justice in the country were frustrated by officials in the same administration, including former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, whom he (Obono-Obla) described as an ‘authoritarian’.

Some of the things I recovered were returned to the looters. For instance, there was this case of someone from whom I recovered over 80 brand new X-class Mercedes Benz cars (armoured plated) from in Jabi, Abuja.

“I wrote to the DG, Customs to ask if the person paid customs duties of the vehicles, he said ‘No’, they didn’t pay. I wrote to the Federal Inland Revenue Services to know if the person paid tax on the vehicles; he also said ‘No’ and that they don’t have the records. We went to court to get an order of interim forfeiture, and it was granted pending the hearing of the case. So, I sent a memo to Malami to brief him on what we were doing, only for him to tell me that he never mandated me to do things I investigated,” he said.

PUNCH Online observed that Obono-Obla was referring to a case involving a former Director of Power, Works, and Housing, Mr. Ibrahim Tumsah, a resident of Jabi, Abuja, from whom SPIP recovered 86 vehicles valued at about N500 million, land, houses, and farms.

Another one is the case of a senator who was then in his sitting status and later became the President of the Senate. I found his story in the Panama Papers, which stated that he had property in offshore islands; I didn’t have the power to investigate him because it was overseas, so I went to the DG, NIA, and sought his help to work together.

They conducted an investigation and sent the report to me. The report confirmed that this senator has over £200 million worth of property in the offshore islands; I sent a copy to the president and one to the Attorney General. Till today, nothing happened,” he added.

While fielding questions on whether the Buhari administration failed to fight corruption, Obono-Obla said, “Yes, I would say so. We didn’t do well. When Magu (former EFCC chairman) and I left, we didn’t hear anything again about fighting corruption. Both of us had a similar fate; we were stepping on toes and too stubborn. In fact, Malami’s close associate once told me, ‘you —Obla and Magu— are very stubborn,’” he stressed.

He narrated how, on many occasions, Malami would make jest of him to his wife on his moves to recover funds and question if he had recovered them.

“All the problems I had, Malami was behind them. The president wouldn’t have removed me without his input. He would joke to my wife if I had now recovered the billion dollars I wanted to recover from the firm that mailed me.

“I was not dismissed, I was suspended and till date, the suspension has not been lifted,” he added.

Recall that in 2019, Obono-Obla was served a letter of his immediate suspension from office over an investigation by the anti-graft agency, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, which found that he falsified his WAEC result to enrol at the University of Jos, where he studied law in the 1980s.

He was also alleged of attending the Nigerian Law school on the back of the fake high school records.

However, the former aide denied all the allegations and the case was further dismissed.
