This happened this morning around Apapa Area while descending towards leventis, the Nigerian military and other agency were trying to control the traffic on the bridge by giving way for smaller vehicle to go through when this Danfo driver came from nowhere and started obstructing traffic, leaving the queue that was created by the task force.

He was already causing traffic when we eventually allowed him to enter in front of us, A one military officer came and told him park and then roll on the floor from the bridge down to Area B police station. cheesygrin

The scene was such an entertaining one cos even his passengers said they told him to follow the queue peaceful but he refused.

I wish to use this medium to commend the Nigerian Military and the joint task force for the good work they are doing in other to ease traffic in Apapa

To all Danfo drivers please always respect your self, Obey traffic rules and stayy out of troubles.

Reports reaching DAILY POST reveal that a corpse is at the moment lying abandoned by the road side in Abuja.

DAILY POST reports that the dead body of an unidentified young man was abandoned around CITEC Pedestrian Bridge, in-between Gwarimpa and Galadima bus stops.

DAILY POST could not ascertain the cause of death as at press time, however, those around the scene suspect that it may have been caused by a hit-and-run driver or an armed robbery attack.

Commuters and passers-by are worried that the stench from the decaying corpse poses serious health challenges and have called on the police, Abuja Environmental Protection Board, AEPB and Area Council official to help do away with the corpse.

Twin male suicide bombers suspected to be members of Boko Haram sect, Tuesday evening, detonated their explosives at a check point around the Gomari Airport Round- About killing a soldier including themselves.

This explosion is coming barely 12 hours when twin suicide bombers struck in neighbouring Damaturu, the Yobe state capital where 6 people including the suicide bombers lost their lives with 26 injured.

Gomari is a populated community of Jere Local Government Area of Borno state which is part of Maiduguri metropolis.
The explosion which shook the vicinity also injured 4 passersby at about 10:22pm when the curfew time of 9:30 imposed on the city of Maiduguri had elapsed.

Sources said, the suicide bombers were riding on a tricycle after the curfew hours, and when they were asked to stop and park by the military and some of the civilian JTF members who were on patrol at the checkpoint, they immediately complied by the order.

The source said after they (suicide bombers) parked and both alighted from their tricycle, they were asked to come closer to one of the military personnel to identify themselves, unfortunately, when they approached the soldier and some of the civilian JTF members, one of the suicide bomber detonated his Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) strapped to his body killing themselves, while the soldier who was critically injured died before reaching hospital for treatment. Tension At NDDC As Top Officials Meet Buhari Over Missing N184billion

$

There is tension at the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, as the agency’s top officials arrive Abuja to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari, Wednesday over the missing N183.7 billion and other alleged scams rocking the commission.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, confirmed the scheduled meeting to PREMIUM TIMES.
“It is true that top officials of the NDDC will be meeting with the President tomorrow (Wednesday),” Mr. Shehu said.

“Although I can’t confirm the exact schedule of the meeting, I can say that it will take place in the afternoon at the Presidential Villa.”
However, a source at the commission who pleaded not to be named because she is not authorised to speak on the issue, said the Managing Director, Dan Abia, would lead the delegation to meet Mr. Buhari.

Other top officials of the commission to accompany Mr. Abia to the meeting include the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Henry Ogiri and the Executive Director, Projects, Tuoyo Omatsuli, among others.

The source said the atmosphere at the commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was tensed Tuesday following fears that President Buhari might wield the big stick on the leadership of the commission.

“The office was so tensed today because people are not sure what will happen after the President meets with the MD and some of our directors,” the source said.

“Since the news of huge financial scams broke out in the media, there has been an air of uncertainty in the office.
“Nobody is sure of what will happen tomorrow. Management has been fighting hard to stop the media from doing further damage to the already bad situation but it does not seem to work.”

She said the fate of some key officials of the commission hang on the balance and would be determined after the meeting with Mr. Buhari.
With spiraling debt totaling N1.5 trillion, the NDDC has been enmeshed in alleged multi-billion financial scams including the disappearance of a princely N187.3 billion from its accounts.

PREMIUM TIMES had reported on August 8 how two executive directors, Messrs Ogiri and Omatsuli, disbursed N3.8 billion to contractors, leaving the Mr. Abia in the dark.

It also reported on August 8 how, two weeks after the last board was inaugurated, the commission awarded a contract for intelligence gathering, management and mitigation in all the senatorial districts in the nine states within the region.
To circumvent the Public Procurement Act 2007, the contract was split into 30 lots and awarded to political gladiators and cronies of board members and top management staff.

A total of N2.7billion was doled out to 30 companies for the contracts, described as spurious by some insiders.
Again, last week, the Auditor General of the Federation, Samuel Ukara, indicted the commission for its inability to account for N183.7 billion which passed through it between 2008 and 2012.

Mr. Ukara urged the National Assembly to summon top officials of the commission account for the whereabouts of the funds
Reacting to the report which was laid before the Senate, Mr. Ogiri, accused Mr. Ukara of being hasty in making his report public even while the NDDC was still responding to the audit queries.

But the AGF has stood his grounds, maintaining that the NDDC refused to respond to repeated pleas by his office to respond to audit queries issued to it despite sustained reminders spanning over a year in each case.

Open Letter To President Muhamadu Buhari By A Nigerian Graduate On Unemployment

Concerned Nigeria: A.J. Victor
Abuja, Nigeria

HIS EXECELLENCY,
PRESIDENT MUHAMADU BUHARI,
PRESIDENT FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA AND
COMMADER-IN-CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES
FEDERAL REBUBLIC OF NIGERIA.

Your Excellency Sir,

GRADUATE UNEMPLOYMENT SOLUTION: AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT MUHAMADU BUHARI - PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA

Mr. President Sir, since May, 29th 1999, Activist, Analyst, Pundits, Journalists, Stakeholders and Citizens have always complained about the problems that has plagued Nigeria: Insecurity, unemployment, lack of power, lack of portable water, bad roads etc.

Solutions to these problems are rarely proffered, even if they were; foreigners are brought in to design the framework to these problems which immediately collapse before or after the initiation stage; the reasons for the failures are not far fetched: Nigeria’s problems are not solely solve by “textbooks” laws, postulations or hypothesis but by the sufficient inputs of its citizens who have genuinely bore the brunt of the problem and have been hurt the most.

For 16 years (Post Democracy Era), these problems still exist and the vicious cycle of complaints still continues.

I am a Graduate, an Economist, an Entrepreneur, and a Youth. I have refused to be in the same school of thought of complainants, but have taken it upon myself to be a problem solver in the area that concerns me the most – UNEMPLOYMENT.

Mr. President, No Government in the world has ever solved the problem of Unemployment 100%, but what defines a successful Government is its ability to manage that part of the unemployed population.

Nigeria at the moment is experiencing perilous time as regards revenue. The country’s gross Income has continued to dwindle, to set aside funds to pay the unemployed population is not an Item that should be brought to the table; as some of the employed are being owed backlog of salaries.

Mr. President, we the Unemployed Graduates in Nigeria are not asking for salaries to be paid to us monthly, without doing anything. All we are asking is Government Insurance Packages that will cater for our basic needs between the time we complete our NYSC to the time we secure a Job.

Mr. President Sir, with my background in Economics and Entrepreneurship I have developed a Framework (ENGAGE 360⁰) that has identified 5 major needs of graduates from the completion of NYSC till when he/she secures a job.

ENGAGE 360⁰ is a Framework that will not cost the Nigerian Government money to execute but will rather solve the dependency of unemployed graduates on the Economy.

ENGAGE 360⁰ is a Biometric Solution which identifies, provides and distributes Government Welfare Insurance packages to Unemployed Graduates, through Companies, institutions, organizations and businesses leveraging on the “TRADE by BARTER” System.

Mr. President below are the 5 major challenges youths are faced with on daily basis when unemployed and “job hunting”; juxtaposed are Institutions that can provide the desirable succor
- HEALTH : Hospitals
- FOOD: Fast Food, Restaurants, Food Courts
- TRANSPORTATION : Inter City Buses, Train, Airlines
- ACCOMMODATION ( IN LOCATION OF JOB HUNTS): Hotels , Guest Houses
- COMMUNICATION( DATA ,MAILS,CALLS) : Telecoms, Courier Companies

Mr. President Sir, Just as the Nigerian unemployed graduate have desires to be met, so also do all the institutions that ENGAGE 360⁰ have identified as conduits of these Welfare packages.

The 3 major and synonymous indices that are plaguing these institutions are:
- Taxes
- Power ( Diesel/Petrol)
- High Cost of Raw Materials/ Spare parts

ENGAGE 360⁰ Framework has an inbuilt automated matrix system that captures all providers of these welfare packages, how many Unemployed graduate used their services, rate at which Government will compensate them, commensurate to cost of service rendered. Reimbursements will come from Government in forms of:
- Tax Holidays or Tax rebate
- Subsidy on diesel and petrol
- Import Waivers on raw material and spare parts.

The Concept of “Trade by Barter”: At no point will Government / Unemployed graduate exchange cash for service rendered by these Providers. This completely rules out the injection of cash into the system, which multiply effect will lead to inflation and cause unforeseen irreparable damages that won’t be desired both in the short and long run.

Mr. President Sir, ENGAGE 360⁰ Framework is available to the Nigeria Government at no price. This is my humble contribution to Nigeria.

Yours faithfully,

A.J.Victor

Something drastic and urgent needs to be done about all these heavy duty trucks and their lawless drivers and handlers. Every day we hear stories of accidents involving them. The government and the FRSC should step up and stop harassing motor user without seat belts and other minor offenses and focus on sanitizing these heavy trucks.

Three suspected drug traffickers have been nabbed at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos State, after swallowing 233 wraps of powdery substances that tested positive for cocaine with a weight of 5.05 kilogrammes.

According to the Nigerian Tribune, the suspects were apprehended during an outward screening of passengers by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)

Two of the suspects, Obiekwe Frank Chuma and Okoye Jacob Okwuchukwu, were going to Hong Kong while Chukwunyere Prince Emmanuel was caught on his way to Italy.

Obiekwe Frank Chuma, who said that he used to be a textile merchant before he suffered financial setback, declared:

“I lost my father when I was at Merchant of Light Secondary School between 1983 and 1988. I was given admission at Edo State University but dropped out in 300 level due to lack of sponsorship.

"In 1997, I came to Lagos and started textile business. Later, I began to buy my goods from Czech Republic and Hong Kong before my business suffered setback. In the process of looking for assistance, I was introduced into drug trafficking. I was given the drug in a restaurant in Onitsha and they promised to pay me $10,000. It took me eight hours to swallow the drugs but I was arrested at the airport.”

Okoye Jacobs Okuchukwu said that he met his sponsor at a wedding ceremony.

“I have a Diploma in Computer Science at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Enugu. I used to import textiles from Dubai and Hong Kong. My business was flourishing and I have travelled to Hong Kong over 15 times. I later had problem that took my capital and I was stranded. That was what led me into drug trafficking.

"I was forced to swallow drugs for many hours in order to continue with my textile business. They promised to pay me over one million naira.”

Chukwunyere Prince Emmanuel said that he smuggled drugs to settle his bills.

“I am a businessman. I supply teaching materials. Armed robbers attacked me and I lost one of my eyes in the process. As I speak, I owe over N15 million. I am unable to pay my rent, my children’s school fees and even feeding. I have no rest of mind because my creditors are on my neck daily. This is my first time of trafficking drugs and I was promised 4,000 euros.”

NDLEA commander at the Lagos Airport, Mr. Hamza Umar, who gave a breakdown of the seized drugs, declared;

“Obiekwe Frank Chuma, 47 years old, ingested 80 wraps weighing 1.930 kilogrammes during screening of Emirates passengers; Okoye Jacob Okwuchukwu, 43 years old, was found to have ingested 70 wraps weighing 1.515 kilogrammes during screening of passengers on an Etihad flight while Chukwunyere Prince Emmanuel, 39 years old, ingested 83 wraps weighing 1.605 kilogrammes.

"Nigerian Stock Market Has Lost N2.5 Trillion Since Buhari Won" - Nairametrics

$

When President Buhari was announced winner of the 2015 Presidential Elections on March 31, 2015, the All Share Index recorded what is now known as a “Bull-Hari” effect. It recorded about 10 straight day of gains as investors basked in the excitement of a peaceful election and surprising acceptance of defeat by President Goodluck Jonathan. On the day the result was announced the marked gained a whopping 8.3% and followed that with another 3.9% gain.

Turn for the worse

Since then the stock market has recorded months of volatility as investors continue to be kept in the dark about the economic policies of the government. Investors both local and international have basically given up on the economy fleeing Nigerian stocks. The fall in oil prices, continued dithering by the CBN on its forex policies, corruption allegations against past governments, bankrupt states, drop in GDP and rising unemployment have all contributed to the negative outlook placed on the Nigerian economy thus damaging investor sentiments further.

Resultant effect

This has now resulted in a massive loss of value for the exchange. As at August 26th Nigerian Stocks have lost a massive N2.46 trillion in value since President Buhari was announced winner. From a market capitalisation of N12.13 trillion on the second of April 2015, it closed at N9.67 trillion Wednesday August 26th 2015.

Sure, the president only assumed power May 29, 2015 but we believe the GEJ Government basically turned lame duck since then. Even at that the stock market has lost N1.89 trillion since May 29. It has not climbed above N11.6 trillion since May 28, 2015.

No end in sight?

No one knows how soon things will reverse or how worse this could get in the coming months. For now the market is in dire need of an economic direction from the government. Despite the macro economic downturn being experienced around the world, a firm course of action from this Government will at least provide a soft landing for the market to bottom out.

How Tambuwal Betrayed Me - Gbajabiamila

$

Femi Gbajabiamila, majority leader of the federal house of representatives, has revealed that he is not on speaking terms with Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto state and former speaker of the lower chamber, who backed Yakubu Dogara to emerge speaker of the green chambers.

Gbajabiamila, who said he felt betrayed, expressed disappointment at Tambuwal’s comments questioning his competence to occupy the position.
Tambuwal had initially said he had a strong affinity for Gbajabiamila, but he endorsed Dogara due to his “proven competence” as chairman of house services committee.

Speaking on Straight Talk with Kadaria Ahmed aired on Channels Television on Wednesday night, Gbajabiamila revealed the betrayal he felt for Tambuwal’s comments.

“It’s a comment I would rather ignore, I feel disappointed in that statement. Looking at that statement, there are many things wrong with that statement, which I don’t want to join issues with. But let me just say this since this is ‘straight talk’.
“I feel disappointed that a speaker to whom much had been given would chop down the issue of leadership and competence to the issue of procurement. That is the last thing I would expect him to say,” adding that the same procurement got Patricia Etteh and Dimeji Bankole into trouble.
“To seat here and say there is no sense of betrayal would be lying. Of course, there is a sense of betrayal, but it’s not something I dwell on. Betrayal unfortunately happens to be the order of the day in politics – particularly in Nigeria. So do I feel betrayed? Yes.

“Tambuwal was one of my closest friends when he ran for speaker; I think I single-handedly pushed his speakership bid. But again, he must have reasons why he did what he did. That must be respected; I just wished he had made that known.”

Asked if he had spoken with Tambuwal since the election, he said: “No I have not, I am not crossing paths with him, he is in Sokoto, I’m in Abuja; you might want to direct that question to him. Who do you think should be reaching out to who?

“When it was clear we were going to win, the other side walked out. Tambuwal, who is my friend, did not call once to congratulate me, he never sent a message, and I haven’t spoken to him since then.”

Speaking on allegations levelled against Babtunde Fashola on budgetary allocations and contract, Gbajabiamila said “I am not holding brief for him, he may be guilty. But as of today he has not been proven guilty.”

Lagos Shuts Down 22 Noisy Churches

Lagos (AFP) - Authorities in Nigeria's financial capital Lagos have shut down churches across the city after a glut of complaints over noisy worship.

The chaotic megacity's environmental protection department said it had sealed off 22 premises on Wednesday after receiving dozens of calls a day, according to local newspaper reports.

Neighbours of one church -- Jesus Our Lord Divine Catholic Prayer Ministry -- said they were constantly disturbed by a congregation of mainly pregnant women, young mothers and their children.

"On my phone alone, I get 20 SMS on a daily basis," said Adebola Shabi, head of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, according to the national daily New Telegraph.

"In the next five years, if there is no stringent policy on the siting of religious houses, there will be problem."

Constant noise -- from the the thumping beats of loud music, the beep of car horns and the noise of generator engines -- is the soundtrack to Lagos life and is seen by many as part of its charm.

But residents are complaining in unprecedented numbers that they can barely hear themselves think among the churches and mosques where giant loudspeakers pump out religious messages and music.

Officials receive around 50 telephone calls and 20 text messages a day complaining about noise, mostly from churches, the New Telegraph said.

"With the enforcement today, we would have sealed about 55 premises because the last enforcement we carried out, we shut 33 premises," Shabi told reporters.

"I gave approval for closure of 22 premises today, making 55."

Religion is big business in Lagos, a city of around 20 million which has seen more than 6,000 traditional and alternative places of worship spring up in recent years, according to the authorities.

Shabi said the churches would be allowed to reopen after paying fines starting at 50,000 naira ($250, 225 euros).

How Cultists Tricked A Man And Hacked Him To Death In Lagos

Some suspected cult members in the Mushin area of Lagos State have hacked a man identified as Tunde, aka Eleto, to death. PUNCH Metro learnt that the victim was tricked from his house on Market Street, Oyingbo, to Kadiri Street, Mushin, where some suspected cult members dragged him to where he was killed.
He was said to have been shot dead and dismembered by his assailants on Tuesday.
Our correspondent gathered that Tunde’s corpse was dragged through the street to a canal around the railway line. During a visit to the area on Thursday, it was observed that the community was still tense, as many feared to talk about the incident.
Some of those approached by PUNCH Metro said they were not living in the area, but were only doing business on the street, and did not know about the killing.

However, a resident, who claimed to have witnessed the killing, said Tunde was hacked to death around 10pm on the fateful day. He said, “The men were seven in number. They held him by the trousers and took him to the street as he begged them to spare him. “They stabbed him in the face and chest, as his pleas fell on deaf ears.“As they were about leaving, one of them said he was not sure the man was dead, so they went back and dismembered him. They also shot at him to be sure that he died.
”Another resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said he heard a gunshot in the night, and never knew what had happened until the following morning. “I was indoors when I heard a gunshot that night. Nobody knew where it came from and what was happening.

But by the following morning, we woke up to see the man’s body dismembered. We had to quickly alert the police,” he said. PUNCH Metro was told that policemen from the Alakara Police Division deposited the corpse in a mortuary. A source explained to our correspondent that Tunde was killed by his friends, who harboured animosity against him. He said Tunde and the suspects once lived together on Market Street, before they (the suspects) were forced to relocate to Mushin.
He said, “The feeling was that Tunde masterminded their ordeal. One of their leaders, Itakun, invited him for a meeting on that day and he foolishly went there, without knowing what he was up against.“They used that opportunity to kill him.”The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Patricia Amadin, had yet to respond to enquiry made about the incident as of the time of filing this report.

When we pass, we proudly claim the glory but when things do not come the way we wanted it, we shift the blame.
I asked a colleague about her result just the week, she told me it was fine. I asked for a particular course we all dreaded and she proudly said " I had A in it". I requested for another course and she replied; " They gave me 32 (F). In my subconscious state, I asked, "Who gave you"?.
The statement is very common in our secondary and tertiary institutions. By the way, why do we always "HAVE" A while they always "GIVE" us F?

NNPC Slashes Crude Buyers From 43 To 16

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation on Thursday said it had reduced the number of crude oil off-takers for the proposed 2015/2016 term contract from 43 to 16.

It said the move was part of measures to optimise the marketing of the nation’s crude oil and secure new market potential.

The corporation, in a statement signed by its Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Mr. Ohi Alegbe, said, “In a novel move to instill transparency and probity in the award of the annual crude oil term contract, the NNPC has mapped out measures to execute the 2015/2016 award of contract to companies for the evacuation of Nigeria’s crude oil equity from the various crude and condensate production arrangements.”

It said, “In the days ahead, we shall place advertisement for the 2015/2016 term contracts and the publication will run for one month in major national and international print media to ensure effective message penetration. Later, the guidelines for the selection of new off-takers would be published and subsequently a special bid evaluation committee would be constituted to conduct due diligence on successful applicants.”

The NNPC also clarified that apart from the earlier listed industry operators whose performance trajectory impressed the management of the corporation to invite them to bid for the proposed Offshore Processing Agreements, “the corporation is extending the invitation for competitive bidding to Forte Oil and Mobil, among others.”

It said, “We are throwing the tender process open for competitive bidding by strong industry players with track records of integrity and financial strength to execute the project.”

The nation sells its oil through annual term contracts awarded by the NNPC to a list of companies, both local and international and the firms are then eligible to buy crude throughout the year.

The list of the 2014-2015 crude oil term contracts, which was released in April last year and expanded in June, showed 28 Nigerian firms among the 43 winners.
