Woman Wants To Be Paid Before Taking Her Sick Child For Treatment (Graphic Pics)

This is quite alarming. A philanthropist has revealed his heartbreak after a woman whom he has been trying to raise funds for to treat her sick daughter, allegedly decided to deny her child medical treatment. According to Nuhu Kwajafa, the woman took her sick daughter away from a hospital in Abuja despite pleas from the nurses and others after N201,000 has been raised for her daufgter's treatment.

It was claimed that the woman wants to be paid the money before she can give her daughter access to treatment, a suggestion which sounds shady.

Read below what the philanthropist shared via Facebook;

Yesterday evening, Aisha’s mother irrationally decided to take her daughter(Aisha) out of the Gwagwalada specialist hospital, denying her treatment. The nurses pleaded endlessly with her but she declined. After numerous phone calls, the mother finally answered our call (an hour ago). She said something to me that really broke my heart. Aisha’s mother wants to be paid, before allowing her daughter access treatment.

This situation where a parent denies a child access to healthcare, a basic right, is criminal and must be condemned. It is the same thing as denying an eligible person the right to vote or be voted for. These types of atrocities must not be allowed to thrive, especially against children, the future of our country.

With heavy hearts, we wish to inform the general public that we are not accepting anymore donations for Aisha. In total 210k has been raised, between yesterday and today. If it’s okay, may we channel the funds to another sick child? God bless you all.

House Of Representatives Names 11-Member Committee To Probe Recovery Of Abacha Loot

...Former presidents, Adeosun, others to be questioned

By James Emejo in Abuja

The House of Representatives has constituted an 11-member ad-hoc committee chaired by Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin (APC, Kano) to investigate the total amount recovered from the infamous Sani Abacha loot by the federal government from 1998 to date, THISDAY has learnt.

It was gathered that the committee was saddled with the responsibility of ascertaining the sources and utilisation of the loot, so that the issue, which had generated a lot of controversy in recent times, could be laid to rest by the lower chamber.

According to the spokesman of the House, Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas, the committee would determine, among other things, the amount spent from the loot on specific projects and the balance to be spent.

THISDAY also gathered that the investigative sitting, which would begin this week would have former presidents interviewed in their residences on the recovery of the loot by their respective administrations.

Also to be invited are key government officials from the office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), and the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun.

The House had earlier passed a resolution to set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate the matter, following a motion moved under matters of urgent public importance by Hon. Sunday Karimi (PDP, Kogi) on the urgent need to stop the federal executive from expending the last tranche of the Abacha loot or any recovered loot at all without parliamentary approval.

The lawmakers had sought to establish the sources of the monies; payments to lawyers, if any, and whether procedures were followed in the negotiation process for the release of the loot as well as to establish if the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the federal government and foreign countries on the repatriation was in line with constitutional provision and if recovered funds had been utilised for the benefits of the common man.

Karimi’s motion originally requested that the sum of $322 million to be released by the Switzerland Government be paid to the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF) and distributed to the federating units in line with the current revenue sharing formula.

The motion further urged the federal government to come up with a supplementary appropriation bill, earmarking the funds due to it from the loot for the completion of the Ajaokuta Stell Complex, and the federal government to immediately present to the National Assembly, the total money released from the recovered loot and how they were spent.

President Buhari Lauds Educational Ties Between Nigeria And Belarus

Education is the veritable doorway through which the boundless potentials of youths can be positively harnessed for the benefit of society, and the country at large, said President Muhammadu Buhari. The President made the declaration Thursday at State House, Abuja, while receiving the outgoing Ambassador of Belarus, His Excellency Vyacheslav Beskosty, who has spent over six years in Nigeria as the pioneer Ambassador of his country.

"I am impressed by your successful tour of duty, particularly in the area of educational ties between our countries. Over 600 young Nigerians are in your country, trying to guarantee a better future for themselves through education," President Buhari said. He added that the relationship between Nigeria and Belarus was sure to grow stronger in the years ahead.

Ambassador Beskosty said Nigeria had "big potential for economic cooperation" with his country, adding that military and technical ties were equally proceeding satisfactorily. Noting that agricultural development was on the priority list of the Buhari administration, he added that Belarus, as the world's biggest producer of fertilizers, and a giant in production of tractors "has a great role to play in the bid to achieve food self-sufficiency" in Nigeria.

The outgoing Ambassador commended the Buhari administration for its service to the nation, noting that people were already seeing significant changes in the country.

Female Corper's Death: Family Asks Police To Go After Garki, Abuja Hospital

The family of Angela Igwetu, the Corps member who was shot dead by a police officer has petitioned the police to go after the management of the Abuja hospital that attended  to their daughter as  autopsy report faulted the claims made by the hospital.

Recall that the corps member was shot at a checkpoint immediately after Ceddi Plaza by a police officer, identified as Benjamin Peters. The incident occurred after the deceased who rounded up her job at about 11pm on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, joined a few friends at a hang–out before their Passing out Parade scheduled for the following day.

The corps member who was rushed to the General Hospital, Garki, eventually gave up the ghost around 6am. Debunking the hospital's claims that it administered immediate medical aid to the deceased, Angela’s sister, Chinenye Igwetu told Punch's correspondent that the Abuja hospital's claims was at variance with what the autopsy report revealed.

According to her, Angela's organs were not affected by bullet. She added that the pipes inserted into the Corps member by the hospital broke her rib cage.

“The autopsy was carried out at a national hospital and the report is totally different from what the hospital said.

“I am not a doctor, but according to the doctors that carried out the autopsy, she was not properly examined.

“The report shows that she would have been saved if proper medical attention had been given to her. Even if she was attended to, it is definitely after a lot of delay.

“Based on the autopsy, the bullet was not supposed to kill her. In fact, all her organs were intact. Even her lung that was brushed by the bullet was not shattered. It was the blood that was clotting from the bullet injury that killed her.

“The pipes that they inserted into her at the hospital broke her rib as well. They brought her in by 3am and she died at 6am. So what did they do between that time frame?" she said.

A petition, which was written by the family’s counsel, Simphil  Associates to the Commissioner of Police, FCT Police Command, read in part;

“We are solicitors to Chief Geoffrey Igwetu (hereinafter referred to as our client), the father to the late Angela Nkechi Igwetu who died on July 4, 2018, at the Garki Hospital, within the jurisdiction of the FCT Command.

“According to our client, his daughter, late Nkechi, was allegedly shot about 3.05am along the road of the CEDI plaza, Central Business District, Abuja, and within five minutes of the incident, she was rushed to the Garki Hospital, Abuja, for medical attention. Surprisingly, the hospital refused to promptly administer the treatment on the grounds that the family must deposit N50,000 before any medical service would be rendered to her. They reportedly rejected an offer of transfer of the said sum to their account and insisted on production of the money in cash.

“The family claimed that the hospital watched  its  daughter died slowly, adding that after the Divisional Police Officer of the Central Area Police Division reportedly deposited N20,000 with the promise of personally ensuring the payment of the balance of N30,000, the hospital still refused to conduct medical examination on Angela.

“We are still in shock that after five days of the death of late Nkechi, the Garki General Hospital released a report, dated July 9, 2018, claiming among other issues that there was no ‘exit wound’ on her. Unbelievable!!!

“The condition/demand by the said hospital as pre-condition before the late Nkechi could be treated and the eventual refusal/neglect to give her the required medical treatment is contrary to the provisions of the Compulsory Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshots Act signed into law by the President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on December 20, 2017.

“In view of the above, it is our brief to demand that you investigate the above allegations for the possible prosecution of the Chief Medical Director (CMD) and other staff of the hospital on duty on the early hours of July 4, 2018, for their failure to comply with the extant laws that will make it compulsory that people in the situation such as late Miss Nkechi found herself are treated promptly.

“Our client strongly believes that prompt medical care could have saved the life of his daughter, late Angela Nkechi Igwetu,” the petition added.

American fitness model, Getbodiedbyj who underwent a removal and reconstructive surgery to get all the silicon injections removed from her butt earlier this year, has shared new photos of her flat behind.

In one of the photos she posted, which was taken on the second day after the removal of the silicone injections, the mother of one explained her journey after undergoing the surgery.

Read what wrote and see photos of her flat behind below:

If you’re new to my journey & just don’t know what’s going on, This was 2 days after removal of silicone injections & Doc attempt to do reconstruction at same time, I was in surgery for over 6 hours & lost massive amounts of blood & had to get 3 blood transfusions. If you look at the Red/purple area that’s forming in the Center of my Butt That’s where necrosis developed due to LACK of BLOOD FLOW. I did NOT have necrosis or life-threatening issues prior to removal. Necrosis Was then removed on 1/31. ?I received (butt shots/hydrogel injections) back 2010 after experiencing PPD & making a mistake I’ll later came to regret & sought to correct. From this day forward I experienced EVERY single complication that could happen along with nearly dying after surgery. My Hemoglobin was below 5?? Thank you @murrrogers for being with me

So Russia2018 has come and gone, leaving us with memories. Most notable is the endless surprises. There was so much surprises that a lady, in a viral tweet, said she won't be surprised if Ghana wins it (pun intended). Well, below are eight inspirations one could draw from this year's tournament, and apply at work, in business, relationships, etc.

(1). When Sweden knocked out Italy in the qualifying rounds
This was more or less, a David and Goliath European tie. A place in the group stage of this year's World Cup was the stake. Despite Italy being hot favourites for the tie, Sweden shocked the whole world with a stalemate away, having beaten the Azzuri in Sweden. This would usher in the deluge of surprises characteristic of the entire tournament. Moral - it doesn't depend on the size of the challenge; it depends on the size of your determination.
