7 Ways Nigerian Couples Can Make Their Marriage Work Again

$

Getting married is always very exciting in Nigeria. From meeting the bride’s parents, doing the official introduction, to the wedding itself, every aspect of it is beautiful.

But it doesn’t end in the celebration. The real deal is the marriage life. Anybody can get married, but it takes special commitment and patience to stay in a marriage.

Don’t allow anybody to deceive you. There’s no perfect marriage anywhere. Do you know that your marriage may be better than that of your friend, you envy her home? Well, now, you know.

If you want to judge marriage based on what you see on social media, you may be living in a fool’s paradise.

Let me tell you something you should know. Couples who are fond of sharing their marriage details on Social media will only show you the beautiful part.

It’s like an iceberg; they show you what they want you to see. But nobody will show you the ugly part of it: the physical abuse, the cheating, the heartbreak, to mention but a few.

Well, I don’t want to bore you with unnecessary details. Here in this article, I will be sharing with you 10 Ways Nigerian Couples Can Make Their Marriage work again.

It’s no longer a secret that some Nigerian couples are just there to fulfill all righteousness. Their marriage is sinking every day.

They now see each other as strangers. If you are in such a situation, you will be forced to ask yourself, what has changed? Is this not the same person who was always kind and caring?

I don’t know what’s happening in your marriage right now. But whatever it is, it didn’t just happen. It was an unresolved issue that escalated to where you are with yo spouse today. If you want to make your marriage work again, this article is for you.

How You Can Make Your Marriage Work Again

#1. Be More Realistic With Your Expectations

The unrealistic expectation is a cankerworm that’s eating the flesh of most marriages in Nigeria. If you want your marriage to work, give up all the fantasies you had about marriage.

Don’t expect to get the best partner; just learn to understand whoever you get married to. It will make things easy for you. And always remember that you can build whatever you want in your marriage.

#2. Don’t Always Try To Control Your Partner

The more you try to control your partner, the more obstinate they become, and it will affect the love you guys have for each other. Love your partner and let them see things from your perspective. Trust me; they will do what you want without forcing them.

When you try to force a person to become something else, it will eventually hurt your marriage. So, if you want to make your marriage work again, give up on controlling your spouse. Remember, they are soulmates, not your slaves.

#3. Don’t Be Possessive

Possessiveness is another cankerworm that eats the flesh of most marriages. The earlier you start realizing that you don’t possess your partner, the better for you.

It doesn’t matter how long you have been with your partner or the number of children you have together, never see them as your property. Instead, see them as your partner. Give them their space and a bit of freedom. Trust me; your relationship will be more beautiful if you stop seeing your partner as your property.

#4. Criticize Less and Appreciate More

There’s something you should know – nobody is perfect. Even if your partner does something wrong, you can correct them with love instead of criticizing them.

Furthermore, try to praise your partner for the little things they do. It will make them feel appreciated and want to do more. Trust me; nobody wants a nagging partner. It irritates more than feces.

#5. Don’t Try To Change Your Partner

Anything you couldn’t change about your partner during courtship, the chances of you being able to fix it in marriage are slim. If you focus on improving your partner at all costs, it will only cause serious issues in your marriage.

I don’t know if anybody has told you this before, let me repeat it here. Marriage isn’t about changing one another, instead, it’s about love, caring, and supporting each other. If you give up the urge to change your partner and focus on growing and improving together, your marriage will be beautiful.

#6. Free Your Mind and Don’t Be Too Jealous

Jealousy is often due to insecurity. Once you let go of your insecurity and low self-esteem, your over jealous behavior will be put in check. Trust me; if you give up jealousy in your marriage, it will become rejuvenated with love. Do you doubt me? Give it a try.

#7. Know That You Can’t Always Be Right

Most marriages are having issues today because both partners are always right. But you fail to understand that you are not in competition with your spouse. It doesn’t matter who is right or wrong in an argument; what matters is your willingness to make things work.

If you can apply these things in your marriage, you can make it work again. Remember, marital problems don’t start overnight. It’s usually due to some of the issues I mentioned above. But if you can start applying them now, your marriage could be beautiful again.

"How My Husband Threw Me Out With Our 6-Month-Old Baby" - Lady (Video)

According to her:
“My husband threw I and my 6 month baby out aug 31st. I am an orphan. He then went to my uncles and told them he is no longer interested in the marriage. .

My uncles told him that our family is ok with his decision. Two weeks after, he called me to move back to his house. I was happy to reconcile so I went back to his house. .

I went back on monday. Since I returned, everyday he comes back by 11pm, 12am smelling of alcohol and cigar which was part of the reasons for the split in august. .

So I confronted him that he is not doing anything about his heavy daily drinking habit and now he has added late nights to it. He closes work by 3pm where he goes from 3pm to 12am, I do not know. .

He told me I have no right to ask him where he goes, why he comes in late or how he drinks and he will beat me up if I ask him such questions (b4 now he had threatened that my family will pick my dead body).

Around 12am, on this fateful day, I started looking for key to lock the door so I can sleep. I couldn't find my key. I asked him, he said he has retrieved the house key from me. I said ok and I went to bed. .

Then I noticed he was going out again. This was 12 30am. I went to him and asked that he gives me the door keys so I can lock the door. He has his own set of keys. He said “no,” that I should sleep with the door open. .

I said that wont happen for the safety and security of I and my baby. So we dragged the keys and he tried to beat me up. I screamed all our neighbour's gathered. I had only wrapper on and the wrapper fell and I was Unclad. .

With the intervention of the neigbours he released the key and drove off. I locked the door. By 1am, he returned and said I and my baby must move out that night. I told him to wait till morning he said “never.”

That we must move out in the dead of the night. I said he should park my load out then and I will go with my baby. By 1 30am he parked all my belongings out of the house and carried me to my father’s house. The marriage is over and I leave him to God and his conscience.”

China Threatens To Suspend Mambilla Power Plant Funding Over Legal Disputes

$

The Chinese government has asked the federal government to settle the legal dispute over the $5.8 billion Mambilla power project or it would not provide funds for the project.

The China Gezhouba Group Corporation of China (CGGCC) and China Geo-Engineering Group Corporation (CGGC) had in 2006 won the bid for a joint venture to execute the hydropower project with a proposed capacity of 3,050 megawatts.

But in 2003, the Federal Ministry of Power had awarded the build, operate and transfer (BOT) contract of the project to Sunrise Power and Transmission Company Limited (SPTCL), a local content partner.

In November 2012, a general project execution agreement (GPEA) was signed with SPTCL.

According to The Cable, the power ministry in November 2017 signed another engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with Sinohhydro Corporation of China, CGGCC and CGGC to form a joint venture for the execution of the project, excluding SPTCL.

As a result, SPTCL filed a suit against the federal government and its Chinese partners at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris, France, over an alleged breach of contract.

The Chief Executive Officer of SPTCL, Leno Adesanya, claimed the company had spent millions of dollars with financial and legal consultants to raise about $6 billion for the execution of the project, yet the company has suffered a lot over the years “through improper administrative interruptions and interventions”.

Due to the ongoing legal tussle, Nigeria risks $2.3 billion fine over the proposed 3,050-megawatts facility.

In a letter dated September 18 and addressed to the Minister of Power,  Mr. Sale Mamman, the Project Manager for the Chinese partners, He Yongjun, said the China Exim Bank, which is expected to provide 85 per cent of the joint funding, will not finance the project until the legal issues are resolved.

“The Chinese government is showing a positive attitude towards the Mambilla Project. However, according to financing policy of China, the Export-Import Bank of China cannot provide loans to a project with legal disputes, which is the main reason why the project has not entered into substantive financing negotiations so far,” Yongjun said.

“On 5th September, 2019, Yang Jiechi, Special Representative of President Xi Jinping informed the Nigerian President and Commander-in-Chief, President Muhammadu Buhari,  that unless the legal dispute is resolved, conforming out of court settlement funding for the loan will not be accessed.

“A meeting shall be organised by the Ministry of Power for negotiation between the relevant authorities of the Nigeria government, SUNRISE, and the members of the EPC Contractor JV to resolve the legal disputes through amicable negotiations so as to let the plaintiff withdraw the lawsuit.

“Should such negotiation fail, if the Nigeria government considers that the arbitration result is beneficial to the Nigeria government, it is suggested that the judicial department of Nigeria (Attorney General) issue a formal legal paper to the Chinese authority confirming that  the legal dispute has no effect on the Mambilla Project.

“And the Nigeria government requests China to start project financing negotiation as soon as possible, financing of the Mambilla Project cannot be stagnant due to legal disputes,” it added.

Abia Will Soon Start Exporting Rice - Governor Ikpeazu

$

The state government on Sunday declared that its rice plants at Acha in Isuikwuato, Ofeme in Umuahia North and Uzuakoli in Bende LGAs were producing large quantity of rice enough for local consumption which will soon be exporting to other states.

Chief John Okiyi Kalu, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, told newsmen in Umuahia that Abia rice known in local parlance as “Osikapa Abia” will be ready for export soon.

According to him, the rice mills had been equipped with modern technology that makes rice produced in them to be stone-free and nutritious.

This, he added, makes Abia rice internationally acceptable because it meets the modern method of producing the grain.

The commissioner further stated that the critics were indeed lampooning the government because they were not aware of the rigorous process of rice production; a situation that makes them assume that the ones produced in Abia were imported.

Kalu argued that because of its increase in the mills, point of sales for the product had been opened in Aba, Umuahia and Isuikwuato, recalling that on assumption of office in May 2015, the Okezie Ikpeazu administration commenced what he called “the massive production the grain in parts of the state.

This, he added, informed the reason the governor directed many years ago that only locally produced rice should be served in government organised ceremonies anywhere in the state.

The commissioner maintained that the strengthening of Abia Marketing Agency was to galvanise the agency to export Abia produced goods which Abia Rice is one, stressing that some of the access roads leading to the mills including the ones to rice farmers were being rehabilitated.

Kalu used the opportunity to announce that the government has commenced the supply of seedlings to rice farmers and therefore challenged the farmers across the federation to install modern equipment in their mills to ensure that their product meets international standard and taste.

Meanwhile, facts, findings by ABACITYBLOG MEDIA showed that a bag of rice (not Abia Rice) is being sold at N24, 000 (twenty four thousand Naira) in Aba while a cup of rice by retailers is sold at N200.

'I Have Created 157,000 Jobs In Three Years' - Governor Obaseki

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Godwin Obaseki, said he has created 157,000 jobs in the last three years.

The jobs, according to him, were created through job tracking for organisations, job matching and placement, skill acquisition and entrepreneurship and Edo Innovates programme.

Governor Obaseki stated this at the Alaghodaro 2019 Youth Summit as part of activities to mark his three years in office.

Obaseki stated that many people doubted his ability to create the jobs when he made the promise three years ago but he took the risk.

He explained that he built the job creation programme around six key areas such as the people, education, sport, and arts and culture.

On education, Governor Obaseki stated that by next academic session, he would establish 300 stand-alone Junior Secondary School where vocational training would be offered.

Governor Obaseki said any student that passed through the schools might have learnt a skill or a vocation that would make them earn a living.

His words, “By the time they are graduating from JSS, the children must have had handwork because there will be fundamental training at the schools.

“We want to change the mindset that education is not about certificate. That is why introduced Edo jobs to help the youths retrace their steps.

“We are mapping out our economy. We are looking at the future through our 30 years development plan.

“Our independent power supply would soon be available to power the street lights and production centres.”

The event saw 150 youths empowered with engineering starter packs after undergoing training.

Over 2000 youths participated in the programme and were linked with jobs in some organisations present at the event.
